Find out what Southern-Italian restaurants to try in Belem. Just four miles from the center of Lisbon, Belem (or Santa Maria de Belem) is best known for Belem Tower (or Torre), a 16th-century fortified lighthouse built to guard the port. This was, after all, the port from which famous Portuguese navigators like Vasco de Gama set off to explore the world. The area is also home to Belem Palace, built in the 16th century by King Manuel and now the official residence of Portugal’s president. Belem is also home to the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery.

Praise there is aplenty for Come Prima, one of Lisbons best-loved traditional Italian restaurants. Being a bit tucked away on Rua Olival, an easy walk from the romantic Tapada das Necessidades gardens, is part of the restaurants considerable charm.
I at here twice - the first lunch with a friend 2 days before my departure, the second dinner with 4 friends the day before my departure. Food was wonderful, service was amazing, wines were superb! I had wanted whole roasted garlic, which was not on the menu, but the chef graciously made some for me and they were the best i ever had. At dinner the following night, I introduced my friends to the whole roasted garlic, which again the chef made for me - and everyone was awed. One of the best restaurans for service and the food was amazing. Looking forward to eating here again.Dear Sir/Ma'am, It was our honor to have you at Come Prima, several times just within your very short stay in Lisbon. Thank you so much for visiting and loving us. We are looking forward to seeing you soon again. Kind regards, Chef Tanka Sapkota.

´´Best home made pasta in lisbon´´Revew in TIMEOUT
We had heard such good about this venue while in Lisbon, and the chatter was very well deserved. The combination food shop/restaurant features authentic ingredients and preparation with exceptional value for the euro/dollar. Our dinner with covers and a bottle of wine came to ~ â¬76, less than $85 at the present rate. The service is excellent (kudos to Valentin & Prakash) and the ambience is variably calm or boisterous, kind of like being with close friends or your large family.A word of advice: Reserve ahead using Il Mercatoâs web page service. The restaurant is popular and gets busy at the later hours common to most European dining. We reserved about 2 hours ahead for 7:45pm and were seated immediately. Dear Tim,Thank you so much for your review and your genuine personal opinion regarding our products, foods, and services that we serve here at Il Mercato. We appreciate you so much for highly recommending us and also for the kudos to our very professional and friendly staffs.Looking forward to seeing you soon again.Best regards,Chef Tanka Sapkota.
