Simple, a bit bland but totally genuine. Salsiccia alla griglia particularly good. House red wine works well with the cooking. Cinghiale alle cacciatore, crostini, agnello alla grigilia all fine but no comparison to Guido at Magliano for example. We didn't try any of the pasta which we regreted as we saw it go by; we'd definitely go back to try the pasta. Service excellent and always there, very friendly, chatty a really pleasant lunch.

This is the fourth year we have visited capalbio and we always eat with great pleasue at this totally unpretentious but high quality restaurant. The potatoe and ricotta filled pasta with grated truffle melted in the mouth and was perfectly balanced in flavours. The roast rabbitdelighted my husband and the vegetables were all well cooked and tasty. Excellent half bottle of a local wine and rich tiamisu to finnsh a perfect lunch. Very friendly waitress and charming location. Can't do better!

We first went for a 'snack' on a baking saturday afternoon, having driven from East of Siena. We climbed up some wooden stairs to a small outside terrace and were immediately seated by a very jolly waitress. There was a joyful party for locals celebrating twenty years from high school graduation inside, but this did not seem to interfere with the efficiency of the place. We were quickly seduced into ordering a huge fish (a Dentrice - or Dentex, a snapper type fish) which was cooked on an open grill by our waitress' dad. It was fantastic! I buy fish all the time in London, so 'know my fish' although of course we don't get this one at home. Desserts are basic, but excellent coffee and , again, of course, local wines. We were going to try another restaurant, Frantoio, for a dinner a few days later. We had eaten there, a few years before and had liked the shady garden, and the slightly more inventive menu, interpreting Tuscan cuisine, but were, frankly put off by the indifference of the owners when we stopped by to book. So we went back to the Torre de Carla. Once again we had a lovely meal - my wife and friends had Rombo (turbot to us) - a wonderful fish, and i had a bistecca - although I was told not to have the Fiorentina, by our waiter (not the jolly waitress - although her dad was still on the grill) as it weighs 1Kg - more than a 67 year old can cope with. Again a local red wine which stood up very well and was not expensive - Veruzzo (curiously, a grape used in the Veneto for Prosecco). Again, basic desserts - not really their strong point. So another very enjoyable meal in a friendly place.Oh yes, if you park in the (expensive) town parking lot rather than on the street, you get the parking free if you go to the restaurant. (we discovered this after we had paid 11Euros
