Restaurant BooKa informs the whole community that it´s closed in order to enjoy ourservices, due to relocation of the restaurant at the end of this month. Thank you for your understanding. Raquel Oliveira.
Restaurante Booka stands out because of how helpful and friendly people are (not sure if they are owners or staff or both). Whether it's talking you through menu options or, in my case, firing up the kitchen a few minutes earlier than planned because I had a boat to catch that evening, the owners make Restaurante Booka a special place indeed. The enthusiasm the chef has for the food is infectious and the quality of food is indeed head and shoulders above other restaurants in Velas. Delicious! The dining room has panoramic windows and is beautiful. The only thing that might confuse guests is the entrance / the building from outside: the restaurant is above a Chinese discount shop and not heavily signposted from the road, so its entrance is not very prominent and you have to climb up the stairs to its door.Highly recommended!Muito Obrigada! Esperamos voltar a vê-la em breve.Thank you so much. We hope to see you again soon

We wanted hamburgers, but the girl behind the counter didn't know if they had any. So she had to ask the cook, who was smoking on the terrace. When she came back, she said they had hamburgers, so we ordered two and sat down on the terrace. After a while, the hamburgers came with fries. The hamburger tasted ok, nothing special, but the fries were not fried long enough. The waitress and cook didn't look like they were glad there were customers...But the view is great! Thanks

Came here for lunch and were hesitant because there was no other customers but were pleasantly surprised. The waitress was very pleasant and recommended two different fresh fish dishes, one in their special sauce and one just broiled. They were both delicious. The special sauce had carmelized onions, garlic and pepper and was suggested for the tuna. It was spot on. But like many azorean meals, had a side of boiled potatoes, shredded lettuce & carrots and a slice of tomato. The restaurant overlooks the ocean, which was beautiful but the seating was only ok.
