Outdoor dining was great. Half way through the meal a fully loaded cattle truck parked outside. Disgusting smell but not the fault of the hotel. We went inside to avoid the smell and the meal was fine for a pub meal. Service was fantastic and friendly.

We travel between Melbourne and Sydney regularly. Gundagai is our chosen trip break location. Over the past few months we have stayed overnight on numerous Mondays and have had to try at least three other restaurants in Gundagai because the Star restuarant is closed on that night. So I guess, for our taste at least, we can justly reaffirm that the Star Hotel remains our Number One choice for dinner in Gundagai. The chef concentrates on good produce (the meat is a standout), the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the staff are friendly. Our choice for casual, relaxed dining offering a little more than the usual pub food.
