Pampa Brasserie

Birreria nuova arrivata a Ceriale, davvero notevole per qualità e prezzi contenuti. Abbiamo ordinato tre hamburger diversi, tutti e tre buonissimi. Nonostante il locale fosse affollatissimo non abbiamo aspettato a lungo per mangiare e ci siamo proprio goduti la cena...A presto e continuate cosi, eh!!!

This turned out to be a very good choice for lunch, despite some initial apprehension. The small outdoor tables are far more suitable for drinks than dining. They do seem to cater to a younger crowd and the music was not particularly to our liking. When you receive a big drinks menu, a bigger wine list and a small and sparse menu one has to wonder how important the kitchen is in the scheme of things. Paper place mats and napkins are brought out afterwards, since at this time of year few natives will want to eat outside. Also, the venue in the heart of the touristy part of town is another cause for caution. But, the Tripadvisor community is rarely wrong! After a month on the Mediterranean diet, we were ready for something else. On instinct, we both opted for steaks, my wife's with a green peppercorn sauce and mine with a red wine sauce and a caramelized pear. As our waiter headed to the kitchen, I asked him whether the beef was from Piemonte, Tuscany or somewhere else. The definitive reply was Toscana, a good sign! The steaks were perfectly cooked and excellent quality meat. We had one order of fried potatoes for the two of us, and they would have pleased a Belgian or Frenchman. This being an enoteca, I ordered a very fine 8 year old Nebbiolo at a reasonable price. There were some fancier wines at fancier prices, but this red was very satisfying. For dessert, fig crostatas were very tasty followed by a fine espresso from Cafe di Genovese. The interior of the wine bar restaurant is attractively decorated and more comfortable for a Fall day. Put this place high on your list when you are in the area.
