Was reading the reviews here and they said good even if they were all for breakfast. We were anxious to get some texas mexican food after a long trip and when we read about homemade tortillas and chile con queso we knew we had to stop. Was easy to find on the town square and parking wasnt a problem. Was greeted when we seated ourselfs. Got water and Dr.Pepper. didnt realize the Dr pepper would come in a bottle instead of fountain drink. Was asked if we wanted chips and salsa and we said of course. I did catch in the menu where it mentioned something about paying for chips, but wasnt sure. Our waitress never mentioned this costing. I mean really when you go to eat at a mexican restaurant for lunch who pays for chips? the chips and salsa were okay, not great but not to bad. on the menu it listed several options and we chose a combo type meal. When asked which we wanted on top and were given several choices one of which being queso. So we chose that. (again never a mention about that costing extra either) I didnt see it in the menu either. Received our food promptly. The beans were average, and the rice did not taste good at all and was so full of chiles? or some kind of mild peppers green and red that is all i could taste. And it was very mushy. The taco meat was okay but the shell was hard like it was stale. The enchiladas were okay and covered in "queso". I love a good queso and have eaten it and many places but this literally tasted like someone took velvetta and a can of rotel tomates and made queso. Not saying this is a bad dip at a party, but wasnt expecting that on enchiladas. So overall I would not eat here again for lunch, maybe breakfast is their thing.
A very basic menu but the food is always fresh and always dependable. I think they serve some of the best Mexican food I've ever ate. The tortillas are always fresh. For Brownfield they should be rated number one
The server was quick and friendly but that was the high point. The decor was bland as was the food. The chips were good but the salsa was weak. The tortillas were good but the fajitas were not very flavorful. They charge a dollar for to go cups which seemed odd.
