We were a group of 9 and we had to push our reservation back even later into the evening. The staff were very welcoming and hospitable despite our tardiness. A couple of us chose the Stuffed Capsicum Dolma with slow cooked lamb shoulder and we both agreed it was delicious and the lamb very tender. We also appreciated the selection of aged port and whiskies to finish the meal with. Wonderful service, seasonal and fresh menu options with a Canterbury focussed wine list. It's so easy to produce a menu which is same same - but this place is unique in it's offerings. I will be back!

SPANISH TAPAS - LAMB - PAELLA and more... in a heritage building in the Botanic Gardens. Drop in for casual tapas in the sun in summer, or beside the fireplace in winter. Or a special occasion or group function in one of our intimate dining rooms. Beautif
I don't often rate restaurants in cities where I live or I have lived, as I know so many it would be unfair for some. Yet I'd like to briefly mention the Curator's House because it brings together some excellent features:Location - couldn't be better, being on the edge of the Botanical Gardens (you can literally walk out of it into this huge park);Building - old enough to give it an air of respectability (nothing is really old in Christchurch, unless you are a geologist);Ambience - stilled furniture and assorted (Spanish) music;Service - European-like, top;Prices - high, but not over the top;Drinks - good selection of wines and some Spanish beer on tap;Food - marvellous, varied, tasty, with a feeling of home made.I invite you to challenge my taste!
