The empanada's were yummy, the Cuban nacho's were HUGE-the cheese was flavorless, shared as a couple and we had enough for probably 4 people. The Cuban sandwich was sad. Kinda of a "where's the beef" type sandwich. The bread covered any meat. It looked like a slice of cheese, a slice of deli ham and a small thin strip of shredded chicken or pork, couldn't tell. Not enough to taste and very disappointing. I thought Cuban food would be spicier . . .People were very pleasant.
Yes, it's next to a gas station. Yes, there are only 4-5 tables, and yes, the interior could be cleaner and nicer. But, if you can get past those things and just try the food...it's soooo good. Homemade tortillas are delicious. Every time I eat here, I just can't believe how tasty it is. My favorite are the chicken tacos with just cilantro and cheese, then I add lime and the green sauce. The rice is the best Mexican rice I've ever had. Just give it a try.
Seriously good eats, people. They have pupusas and they are wonderful. The curtido (cabbage slaw) with lots of Mexican oregano was the perfect companion to the pupusa. I will be back just for these. The sopes was decent as well. Hubby liked the chili relleno and tacos. We have a place with decent pupusas in St. Joe!! I'm so excited.
