It was a wise person who once commented that good taste never goes out of style and so it is with that in mind this restaurant was born. A comfortable intimate place above a neighborhood bar in West End, Long Branch N.J., hopefully we have succeeded in
We were celebrating my best friend's Birthday. We hadn't booked there a table in advance and when we went there they were fully booked. We left out phone number and didn't even hope that they would call us. It was a pleasure for us to receive a cal from their manager that they already had a table available. Very good service, nice cozy atmosphere, they even congratulated my friend with a small cake and a candle.

Situated on the Asbury Park Boardwalk, with a mélange of artists, surfers, musicians, denizens and lovers of salt air and sandy toes, Langosta Lounge encapsulates the perfect blend of city and sea, lounge and restaurant, vacation and mid-week escape. Open
First, I have to admit that I've always enjoyed the food here, even though it is a little pricey for what you get. For example, a chicken wrap was $15 with no sides whatsoever (which I only learned after being charged $18 for said wrap--story to follow). The service was extremely slow. If we had known it was going to be so slow we would never have went here. We were in AP to go to the beach, not sit in a restaurant. The restaurant was less than half full. I hate to think how long we would have waited if the place had actually been busy. Although we got water right away and the waitress took our order fairly quickly, it took forever for the food to come out. (OK--that is an exaggeration; I'd still be there if that were true. It took over 30 minutes). When we finally asked about it, we were told they were waiting for the sweet potato fries. Really? Were they waiting for the potato to grow? They only take a few minutes to make. The second situation is that we were charged for the fries. When ordering the wrap, we were asked if we wanted chips, sweet potato fries, or something else I can't remember. We were then charged for it. When I pointed out that we were not told this would be an additional charge, the waitress just shrugged and said they don't tell people that. I told her that they could phrase it by saying "would you like to ADD a side". No apology, no nothing.I would never, ever skimp on a tip because of the food not coming out in a reasonable amount of time because I would not consider that the waiter's fault. But asking what side you want matter-of-factly without indicating the additional cost IS the waiter's fault. So I recouped some of that amount by tipping 15% instead of my usual 20% or more. I am admitting to this so if the waitress sees this, maybe she will learn to be more upfront with people.
Finding this wonderful restaurant takes some effort. It is located in a shopping center that is mostly deserted. You can easily pass it if you were not using a GPS.It was definitely worth the effort. The decor is elegant but not pretentious. Staff was very attentive and helpful in explaining some of the menu options. The food was delicious. The flounder francaise was especially delightful. The fish was extremely fresh. Our waitress Bridget was personable and attentive. The biscotti and ice cream for dessert was a delicious finale. Make this a go to on your next visit to the Jersey Shore.
