âGasthof Sandwirtâ has a prominent location: on top of the little hill at which the village of Maria Saal is situated and next to the impressive Maria Saal Parish. This is both a restaurant and a B&B. From its outside seating area, one has a splendid view at the church. Since the adjacent street is the end of a blind alley used only for parking, no traffic is to be expected there. Unfortunately, it was too cool and windy at the day of our visit for having lunch outside. Therefore, we had to be content with the rustic interior, which for sure was refurbished recently and is also classy and attractive. It comprises one dining room for smokers as well as a large and a small one for non-smokers. There were beautiful heavy table cloths, which was unexpected in a village inn. But âGasthof Sandwirtâ is definitely more than that. While the permanent menu was rather short and basic, a large number of dishes of the day were written on two chalkboards at the entrance, some of which were really creative.Furthermore, the welcoming host, who primarily runs the kitchen but is the headwaiter as well, told us that beyond the regular dishes they are also willing to fulfill special wishes of their guests. The waitress was swift and as friendly as he. Our dishes were served after only a moderate waiting time. They suffered from a few minor issues such as pasta in the soup not cooked enough and therefore somewhat too hard and all dishes a bit on the greasy side, but apart from that they were quite good. Portions were of normal size and prices not a bargain, yet not exaggerated either.

The cosy Bistro 151 is unique in Austria and the surrounding of the wörthersee. There is a bar area, a small restaurant part, a large restaurant part for groups and parties and a terrace for over 70 people. Come and enjoy the Austrian, Mediterrane, Asian
The reviews are so right, great place, great ambiance and great food. And staff that makes you feel very welcome and appreciated!A reason for a d-tour when you are around the Woertersee. We had nice starters (raw biff tartar, escargots Viennese), mains where veal (rolled and blend with Parmesan and rucola) and the catch of the day (steamed freshwater fish with vegetables). Not often we take desserts but here we tried the Chocolate cake fondant and an impression of Apfelstrudel.Nice white Austrian wine to complete this lovely meal, and of course a grappa to finish. (Grappa Nonino, not the best but maybe we are to spoiled by Berta Grappa)
