I always remembered this place as a run of the mill town centre pub, but The Rights of Man now has a separate restaurant and a hidden away roof terrace where I had lunch. The food is very good if a little pricey but did not disappoint.

Booked one night stay. Read a few reviews but didn’t read enough! This place is grotty. Desperately needs decorating and refurbishment. Stayed in Room 6. Overlooks road and unfortunately the road was being resurfaced until midnight! Very noisy room from 6am with traffic meant little sleep. Bed linen was clean but carpet and bathroom looked shabby. Shower had no pressure and took 5 mins to get warm. Corridors were in awful state and smelled bad. Walked down to breakfast and asked immediately what I wanted! Hadn’t even seen a menu or sat down!. No cereal just cooked (that may suit some) Very disappointed. Single staff member didn’t ask how everything was and to be honest I saw little point in explaining as it was everything. AVOID!Dear Ian,Thank you for your review. As this is the only opportunity you have given for us to respond to the issues stated then I'll give my response here.If you book accommodation on a busy road then you can't be surprised to hear some road noise. Google Maps is a great tool to use to thoroughly research a property you had booked. Whilst there are some small improvements we need to make you should also bear in mind that you booked the least expensive option in the area. We have customers who come back time and again so there clearly isn't such a big problem as you pointed out. The corridor doesn't smell bad and is not in an awful state. The bathroom is due to be refurbished but is perfectly serviceable and clean and hot water does not take 5 minutes to come through.Breakfast is complimentary so we can offer what we like. We don't have a breakfast menu and it seems like a silly thing to complain about. You met me when you arrived and my partner was also working that evening. You met the owner, who did your breakfast, in the morning. There were 3 opportunities for you to come to us with a grievance. And you didn't. It says more about you than it does about us.Now for the roadworks. This was unavoidable. They had 1 night to do works directly outside the pub. They did it efficiently and quickly. They tried their best to minimise the noise and any disturbance. The fact that you are trying to besmirch a small business trying to make a living should keep you awake at night and not a bit of road traffic.

So I don’t live in Lewes, and I travelled 20 miles there and back to get my takeaway as I normally love yummy yummys food. Everything tasted really nice but my pork balls were tiny and the pieces of pork inside were about the size of a 5 pence piece. Normally they’re much bigger with large chunks of meat! Very disappointing. There was no point me ringing and complaining because I was at home when I realised and wasn’t going to travel all the way back. Gorgeous vegetarian spring rolls. Just very unhappy about the pork balls. I feel cheated out of my money.Dear vers4ce,Thank you for your positive review. We spoke to the owner concerning your comments and in turn the chef has been advised.Thank you for your positive feedback concerning that 'Everything tasted really nice'. We hope that your next order will be even better.Thank you,YYL
