We enjoyed our Saturday lunch here. Itâs a small restaurant located on the narrow road linking Vescovato and Venzolasca with limited parking in front. There are several tables outside next to a grass + flower garden and more tables inside. We ordered galette with herbs and garden veggies, and a ratatouille with french fries. Both tasted good but not outstanding. The galette (actually 3 buckwheat patty cakes) lacked flavor. The side of veggies was good but small. The ratatouille tasted much better but the portion was also very small. It came with a pile of homemade french fries. I would have preferred the opposite â a larger portion of ratatouille and a smaller portion of french fries. Each dish was garnished with some lettuce. Overall, we expected our dishes to be flavored with more herbs and spices. If you enjoy great French bread, the sliced rye-type bread that came with our meal was not very good. It was plain, dry, and not chewy. We skipped the numerous homemade desserts which did look delicious. Prices here are high for the amount of food you get. Service is very friendly and efficient. The best part of our lunch was walking around the little garden taking photos of the flowers and trees. As dedicated bio-vegetarians, we had high hopes for this restaurant but walked away a little bit disappointed and a little bit hungry too.

Arriving in Bastia by ferry around 8 pm, we booked hotel and restaurant together. Hotel was merely mediocre--70s motel decor, "sea view" across a major highway. But the restaurant was stunningly awful. The menu contained such "typical Corsican" dishes as a tagine of lamb and Asian stir-fried chicken. We figured we couldn't go wrong with moules frites and burger frites. Wrong. Worst frites I've ever had anywhere. Soggy, yet half cooked. One bite was enough.
