Reviews on Indian food in Turku, Southwest Finland, Finland. Turku (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈturku] ( listen); Swedish: Åbo [ˈoːbʊ] ( listen)) is a city on the southwest coast of Finland at the mouth of the Aura River, in the region of Southwest Finland. Turku, as a town, was settled during the 13th century and founded most likely at the end of the 13th century, making it the oldest city in Finland. It quickly became the most important city in Finland, a status it retained for hundreds of years. After Finland became part of the Russian Empire (1809) and the capital of the Grand Duchy of Finland was moved to Helsinki (1812), Turku continued to be the most populous city in Finland until the end of the 1840s, and it remains a regional capital and an important business and cultural center.

We had meeting in electrocity so during the lunch break as team of 8-9 people we went out for food. Plan was to go Chinese but that restaurant was closed so ended up in Delhi Darbar restaurant at buffet time. Restaurant was full upstairs so they offered place downstairs and it was calm area. All team ordered different dishes including chicken lemon/vegan food/vegetarian options/Salads. Service was good.

We went there with the family on a Sunday. It is a quiet and cosy place with a nice atmosphere. My wife ordered The Special Chicken as it was lactose free. She really liked it as it was "filling, flavorful but not overly spiced". It had cashew nuts that gave it a nice crunchiness. I had the Butter Chicken which was mild but flavorful and very good. The rice that came with it was excellent white Basmati rice which did not stick together, much like Persian rice (I am half Persian!). Our older son (11) had the Small Lamb Korma from the children's menu. He is very picky with food so he only ate half of it. I ate the rest of it and it was very good. Our youngest (5) had chicken nuggets and fries. When he asked for more ketchup they immediately brought more. So very good service to both children and adults. For desert we got the Mango Lassi and Fried Banana. Both were absolutely divine! The price for all of this was very reasonable.

Since my friend likes spicy food and I like Indian food we chose this restaurant in the very neighborhood of our hotel. Very nice place, tranquil atmosphere, silent with background music barely audible (during our visit, at least). I chose Himalayan Kitchen Special Sizzler with herb-yogurt marinated and Szechwan pepper spiced tandoori oven grilled king prawns, lamb tenderloin pieces and succulent pieces of chicken and fresh vegetables, served with mint chutney. My friend chose spicier Himalayan Kitchen Tandoor mix, about same dish with hot and spicy tomato onion and garam masala sauce. We liked our most filling dishes with the exception of king prawns; just 2 of them but didn't taste to our liking. Coffee for dessert, very well worth the money (2 EUR). The waitress was very friendly and food was tasty. Great place if you like Nepalese food.
