This is a long established family Department Store in two different locations. The Dorset Kitchen has a good choice of light lunches, snacks, sandwiches and excellent cakes. The staff are friendly and the prices reasonable. They offer a loyalty card with one free drink for every six consumed,. I visit regularly for tea, coffee and snacks.Hi peterscaife2, Thanks for the great review of Dorset Kitchen! The food selection at Dorset Kitchen is fantastic and the loyalty card is great for your free drink. Make sure to pop in when it's not so nice outside during these winter months!

On the first floor of Goulds department Store in South Street is Cafe 11. There's also an entrabce from the car park with stairs straight up to the cafe. Good selection of cakes , sandwiches pasties rolls etc. Clean environment and pleasant service at affordable prices. Great for a cheap lunch in between shopping. Not much of a view over looking the car park but good value for money.

The Engine Room Restaurant is set in the engine shed of the original Poundbury Farm buildings and boasts an inspiring menu using fresh local produce. A must for a relaxing cup of coffee or delicious lunch.
Popped in for lunch on the way back from Devon. Lots of choice, and easy to find a table. You now need to order at the counter. Great coffee and hot chocolate. We ordered the rainbow sandwich, which was substantial and brimful of delicious veg and hummus...very tasty and a flowerpot of dressed salad alongside. Staff were friendly and smiley. The cake looked fabulous but we were too full up to try any!!Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
