To sum up our recent visit to Rustam, it was a unique experience. Not often does one get to travel and eat a meal cooked and served by a family in their own residence. Mother and one son did the cooking, father and another son helped serve the guests. We were also shown with their treasured ceramics and self made jewellery by the son. We enjoyed greatly our conversation with the son who is graduating soon from university and speaks very good English. In terms of food, we had corn soup, cauliflower and beet salad, beef with potato and carrot stew and apple cake. Decent taste with leaning on healthy cooking (i.e, not greasy). We applauded on their innovative concept of hosting dinner in their home as who knows this concept could become the new "airbnb" way of serving dinner for travelers.

As it was recommended by a well-known travel publication it was the first place tried and although expectations were not high this fell well short of the standards need to be classified as OK. Food was not that good, atmosphere well well short despite the rooftop and overall disappointing. Although food standards are not high in this town, this one failed to meet the minimum. Sad as it had the location, rooftop and all they needed was to get the food and service OK and smarten up the decor a little with a few light.They were lucky to get two.
