Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality of Nea Propontida, before which it was a municipality with its seat in the town Nea Kallikrateia. The municipal unit has an area of 108.894 km. According to the census of 2011, it has a population of 11,571 people. Nea Kallikrateia was established after the refugee crisis in 1922, mainly by the residents who came from Kallikrateia in Eastern Thrace and set up in the area, where the metohi of the Xenofontos Monastery of Mount Athos existed and it was called “Stomion”. Many testimonies report that it was inhabited by the prehistoric years; however, they are not confirmed.

the place doesn't look so charming and neither the name at the sign "grill restaurant". but actually the food was delicious, i recommend to get something from the grill. we had warm snack plate for two (good) and grilled calamari , which was superrrrrrtasty. best of all was service, lovely older ladies with really good english. we tested about 6 places at kallikrateia and this was maybe best of them.

Our first evening back in Greece and we all wanted authentic gyros. We weren't disappointed, very friendly and accommodating staff and good food. More a snack bar than a restaurant but after a 6am flight it was just what we wanted.

Nice decorated Cafe with seats right on the beach. Occupancy is low when everything else around is full. As everything happens for a reason, you will discover that water is charged when all cafes around don't, service is very slow compared to the visitors and Wi-Fi connects but no internet service is available. Needs definitely a restart. You could find free seats during peak days however and it's right on the beautiful water.
