The doughnuts seem to be a big draw card here, and rightly so they are very good. However, we ate here on Sunday night and the food was very good - interesting and tasty. Staff, service and coffee all good to. You must go at least once or twice.Important planning information - they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. Work around that.

The Sprig & Fern Tavern in Motueka is somewhat of a hidden gem set behind the busy main street. We are a traditional, friendly kiwi tavern with a bright, fresh interior. There are no TVs or pokies to distract you from enjoying the excellent craft beer and
The teachers at my school decided to go here for a farewell party because their menu advertises gluten free and vegan options, and that they accomodate dietary requirements or allergies. I spoke at length with two different servers about GF and vegan options before ordering because gluten has landed me in the hospital before and I generally keep a vegan diet. I saw a vegetarian pizza on the menu, gluten free with goat cheese. I asked if they could take the cheese off, they said no, everything is pre-made, but I also know that goat cheese isnt so hard on my digestive system like cow and I was sharing with a group so we ordered that and fries. When the meal came, the fries looked suspicious to me and everyone else at the table said "dont worry, they're just deep fried". I decided to check yet again and it turned out that yes, they are breaded, and it doesnt say so on the menu and the servers didnt know. The pizza came, it looked greasy but good, we ate it, it was delicious, and a friend ordered a second. The second was covered in mozzerella. It turns out our pizza had had mozz on it too but since it was a bit overcooked, you couldnt see it from under the veggies. Needless to say I've had a headache for going on 20 hours and it sucks. I asked to talk to the manager as 1. this could have been a dangerous situation if I hadnt triple checked and 2. why am I giving money to people that are feeding me food that I don't ask for, that isnt as advertised, and that made me sick. I was told that the managers were out of town for three weeks and I could bring it up with them when they return. Really? No one pit in charge in their absence? No one to deal with customer complaints? No one to rectify the situation for three weeks? Needless to say, I'm never going to Sprig and Fern again.

I ordered a scotch fillet steak what they brought was a chewy stringy sirloin sat on top of a pile of chips! Inside the mediocre green salad. I complained about the steak the response was I will tell the kitchen !Hi There,Our steaks are purchased and sold as ribeye or sometimes called scotch fillet in New zealand and Australia. No where do we advertise or lead you to believe you will receive fillet steak. We purchase the best cut of Angus ribeye from our butcher, it is the best we can get. Ribeye is rated 7-10 for tenderness but for flavour is rated 10-10 which is why we use it. A true taste of grass feed free range New Zealand beef. We did try to explain all of this to you ,even show you on google, not everyone is out to rip you off.
