Find out what Greek restaurants to try in Nijmegen. At over 2000 years old, Nijmegen has had a pretty full life. Its transition from Roman military camp to modern municipality has not been without growing pains, but today Nijmegen is thriving, largely because of its lively student population and its status as a hub for political activism. Try to visit during the internationally popular Nijmeegse Vierdaagse four-day walking festival and the epic Zomerfeesten summer party. They happen at the same time, because why not?

We went to this place, because the reviews were so good. It was really disappointing. We tried a lot of Greek restaurants and our standard is the taramatasalata. This mezze dish is made of salted and cured roe of fish, mostly cod, olive oil, lemon juice and bread or potatoes. So we were really excited to taste this dish. When we received the menu we were astonished that there was a choice to be made between a cold mezze and a warm mezze. Even in Greece they serve the mixed dishes warm and cold. We ordered the cold mezze and as a main course the bifteki and an oven dish with shrimps. The mezze was horrible! The taramatasalata consisted of colored fat. There was no taste of roe, in fact it tasted nothing. It was just fat that had the pink color. We tasted from everything but the rest of the dish was also not eatable: houmous of non-definable origin, feta cheese that was tasting like cottage cheese⦠We feared the main course. The bifteki was okay. Not too bad, but not what we expected due to the reviews. The oven dish is not even worth writing about it. The shrimps lay in a watery red sauce, what should have been tomato with feta. The shrimps were overcooked and rubbery. The staff was very friendly. When in Nijmegen avoid this place. It is not worth any cent.

Restaurant is located opposite the Hunnerpark, on a street with a large variety of restaurants. The atmosphere is cosy, the restaurant is inside considerably larger than one would guess from its outside. Staff are friendly.
