On this, our first visit to Karlings Inn, my husband and I were impressed with the quality of the food. He got the Beef Stroganoff. I've never seen this served with a puff pastry before (I've always had it over noodles), but hubby said it was delicious. His salad looked yummy, with strawberries and mango for color. My asparagus soup was creamy and tasty, but more homogeneous than I expected (asparagus blended in, with no pieces of the vegetable remaining). My fried shrimp were large, butterflied, and breaded deliciously. Meals included a lovely bread basket with banana bread and dinner rolls (both very nice), as well as choice of soup or salad, choice of sweet and sour cabbage or vegetable, and a potato pancake. The waitress was attentive and helpful, suggesting a beer for my hubs and a wine for me. Yes, I've read the remarks about taking a while for the food to arrive. We enjoyed our meal and appreciated that it was cooked to order, and were in no hurry to be finished! There is a piano in the small dining room, and we were treated to live music from a youngster who lives nearby, contributing to a pleasant family atmosphere. This is truly a hidden gem and we'll be back someday - probably for the prime rib special!

The restaurant was not crowded. Our party of 4 waited over an hour for our orders to be served. We were told it was all cooked to order, but this was beyond any reasonable waiting time. The food was plentiful and good.

This little gem is just like walking into your German Grandmothers kitchen! The food is authentic and Emmy makes it her goal to greet each guest. Our German food was amazing! However, beware, the kitchen is too small to accommodate the entire menu every evening so if you want a full German menu, go on a Wednesday or Sunday.
