Visiting an elderly relative we picked this place to stay because of good TA reviews. We werenât disappointed. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The food at dinner and breakfast was lovely. The beer and gin were great. Our room was clean and comfortable but because it was the last available it wasnât en suite but nipping across the corridor to our personal bathroom wasnât a great hardship. We will stay again when in the area.

We visited a week ago mid week and the service and food great. We visited again today, Saturday, what a difference!! We arrived 5 minutes early, went to where you are seen to your table and waited and waited!! Finally before we grew roots we were shown to our table. Then the wait started. We were asked if we wanted drinks. Then came back to say they did not have the item of drink, we gave an alternative, again came back no drinks!! we gave a third option hurray, success, Wait number three, ages went by then came the drinks. They took our meal option which came some time after. After the plates were cleared another 20 minutes elapsed with no order being taken for sweet or coffee. We decided then at 4pm, enough was enough, arose, asked for the bill and left. Surprisingly say's one of the best things about eating out is that sooner or later you get to pudding" Believe me it is LATER if you sit on table F1... Probably wise to skip this!!

We have dined here for many years and like the basic floor boards and plain furnishing theme which may not suit everyone. Menu slightly limited but varied and very generous portions, although the standard of cooking has slipped a little recently. The staff are always very pleasant but service is not as good as it was. Our last visit, albeit on a busy Saturday evening, was extremely slow and haphazard. A long time to serve drinks and not all served together. Ridiculously long wait for food. Deserts and coffee ordered at the same time, coffee arrived 20 minutes later, another 15 minutes for first deserts then another 15 minutes for last desert. Three hours for two courses and drinks, we were almost falling asleep.
