On a rainy Friday while on holiday, a leisurely lunch seemed a good idea. The Richmond Arms is charming and welcomes dogs. We were seated immediately and took ages to select from the menu as everything sounded great. The scallop starter with pineapple was amazing, as was my Chorizo scotch egg. Mains of Sucking Pig and a cut of Pata Negra were outstanding. Desserts were equally different and divine. Good wine list, attentive friendly service and good value for money considering the excellent standard. Loved it! It surprises and delights.

The Fox & Hounds offers great pub meals and bar snacks in relaxed surroundings. Situated in the charming village of Funtington, near Chichester. Boasting a large selection of well known and not so real ales, great wines and a well stock bar, large garden,
I could have headed this 'ladies who lunch', as several of the small number of diners present on the day we visited came into that category; but it's a comfortable venue for everyone, regardless of age or gender. We were swiftly offered drinks and given menus, and had no trouble settling on the liver and bacon as our main course. It came with a modest amount of mashed potato and a good serving of lentils in sauce. We were pleased the serving wasn't too big so that we could enjoy it.We then both had the tarte tatin with ginger ice-cream, topped with one of those little orange physalis things, and very good it was too. This isn't a really cheap place to eat, but the bill was not excessive and we felt it was good value for the quality of the food. Recommended.Nice rested customers with no complaints about the food is exactly what we like to hear.We look forward to seeing you again the next time you dine with us.

I hadn't been to the Earl for a while, as last time ( about 3 years ago) I visited felt the food was overpriced and not of a high standard. This time it was different, the food well cooked and presented and the prices fair for the standard of cuisine. The dining area was clean, tidy and the atmosphere was good. The staff worked hard, were attentive, without being intrusive. The menu choices were good, the food was attractive and tasty. It made for a nice birthday supper for my friend.
