First time i heard about this "Euglena" thing, that they say it's very healthy. We tried the carbonara pasta with euglena, and also taco rice, both were delicious. Not so expensive, the atmosphere is great and the toilet is clean and tidy.

But I'm a boy. And I care about things like depth of flavour and relaxed atmosphere.The dishes here are beautiful. Lots of diligence in plating.Everything was very light on flavour. The staff are quite bossy - telling you where to stand while waiting, telling you how to sit (as the place is quite cramped), and then telling you how to eat the damned food. This is not some exotic cuisine like banh xeo or something where you need guidance the first time.Really not delicious or relaxing.But chicks dig it. Very cute, blah, blah, blah.Once is enough for me.

Mori-no-Kenja is located slightly outside of the Ishigaki town center (meaning that it's best reached by car) and is notable for its drink selection, its calm atmosphere, and its food made from local ingredients. In particular, it offers a wide range of infused awamori cocktails -- both fruit and herbs.The food menu includes typical Okinawan ingredients (Ishigaki beef, pork, and goya) but also some lesser-known Ishigaki specialties. The shima-sozai tempura is an excellent way to sample some of these plants.The restaurant is small (only about 20 seats) and appears to be popular with locals, so if you don't have reservations, be prepared to sit at the bar. There didn't appear to be an English-language menu, but it's possible to use Google Translate on the online menu and decide what to order in advance (or just ask the staff to choose for you).Bottom line: Small, definitely non-touristy local restaurant convenient to downtown Ishigaki that feels like a cross between a cafe and an izakaya. Good for couples and for relaxing over drinks.
