I opted to try Oliversan on Valentine's eve for a change since last year we tried Maki the Japanese restaurant owned by the same person. The name is derived from the English translation of the owner' surname. The decor is based on English hat theme with low uncomfortable seats and doubtful relevance with Asian cuisine. Anyway the website menu included few interesting items that we were looking forward to try. The disappointment came when the waitress didn't know the on-line menu included Ostrich meat needless to say it was not available so we requested an alternative the robata chicken (chicken grilled the Japanese way) and surprisingly was not available; the main menu limitation forced us to have half the order from Maki and the other half from Oliversan. The mixed sizzling was very tasty but the restaurant resorted to a cheap trick by increasing the chicken quantity over the excellent meat and shrimp (more expensive items) making the platter yummy but disproportionate.Despite the good food and service the place has a lost identity. Overall recommended for one visit onlyDear Mr. A Omeiri,Thank you for your visit and review. I apologize for the Ostrich being unavailable as it is a seasonal item. I shall ensure that our staff remove it off the online menu when it is not available. As for the chicken robata, I shall investigate why it was sold our on the night. I appreciate all your comments which I shall pass on all the rest of your comments and opinions to our management and follow up with them on dealing with these comments to resolve them.Best RegardsJoe Hajjali

Nice set up opposite the block 9 area( Fabrics market) Kuwait city. The food is tasty but heavy since lots of sauces used are mayonnaise based. The jackpot fries is one million calories but irresistible, the fried chicken strips taste was enhanced by the honey mustard, the smoked truffled mac and cheese was spot on and the brown butter grilled shrimp & chicken quesadilla were good but nothing special. The pain perdu desert has the bread too thick making the inner dough slightly soggiesh. The food presentation is very good but not the service. Overall recommended
