Head chef Loc Bui was born and raised in Saigon, the old capital of Vietnam, before settling over here in England. He has devised a menu for the Bistro based on family recipes from generations past. Bistro Saigon offers an authentic Vietnamese experience
Not enough to actually complain, but sad it was just anâadequateâ meal after previous visits having been so positive.Shared a mixed platter...squid, prawns and spring rolls swimming in grease, papaya salad swimming in too much dressing...all leaving smears on the platter and on our plates. Shared a main of chilli beef with side of pak-choi again with over taste of oil with burnt chunks of chilli in the greens.Such a shame, as previously had good clean flavours in all dishes, leaving a zing on the palette rather than a sense of grease and oil. As said, not so bad as to complain or send back, and adequately edible, but we should expect more......maybe it has been a change of chef, maybe a bad night, but weâll be leaving it for a while before trying again.Hello 629derekt,So sorry to hear you had a negative experience to us recently. We do pride ourselves on the continuous standard of our food, however it appears we dropped below our high standards on this evening. We do welcome all feedback, but would have preferred for you to bring this to our attention on the night, as we never want any guests to leave disappointed, and would have had an opportunity to rectify any issues to your satisfaction. I do hope you will return to us, and allow us to restore your faith in Bistro Saigon.Warm RegardsTracey MallowsFront Of House Manager

Fine Bengali Cuisine in the heart of Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
After visiting Ilkley last Saturday afternoon we decided to call in at Seema's restaurant after hearing many positive reviews. There is street parking adjacent to the restaurant. We had made a reservation 30 minutes before our arrival as we had heard it is a little on the small side. On entering we found it to be very well furnished in a modern style. We were immediately shown to our window table by very friendly staff. They took our drinks order whilst we made our choice from the extensive menu. Just one negative is that 2 items we initially chose from the menu, namely Tetley smooth beer and chicken seekh kebabs are no longer available and I suggest that these ought to be covered up on the menus as it creates a rather poor initial impression. That hiccup over we chose onion bhajis and lamb seekh kebabs as starters which arrived in a timely manner. These were served with a side salad and mint yoghurt. Both were extremely fresh and tasty. For mains I went for chicken pathia served with chaphatis whilst my wife asked for keema saag which wasn't on the menu but the restaurant kindly offered to prepare for her; tha latter served with mushroom pilau rice. Again both arrived in a timely manner and were simply delicious and of very good portion sizes. Throughout our stay the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Complimentary had towels were provided after which the bill, which was very reasonable, was settled in a very efficient manner. Overall we were very impressed and we will certainly be adding it to our list of favourite Ilkley eateries. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a fine vegetarian meal at Panache last night. We ordered the Shahi Delight (a sweetish, creamy dish with mango, tomato and coriander), tarka dal, chana bhaji, some bread, pilau rice and an onion salad. All were extremely good, well spiced and aromatic, and nicely presented. The Shahi Delight was unusual but pleasant, a dish I have not come across before. The service was good from the customary distant waiters. The beer selection was the usual with the addition of Cobra IPA, a mediocre brew. I have said it before, and will again, why not have some beer on offer from local breweries for those that don't want flavourless beer from multinationals?
