Known as "King of the Gyros" and available for dine in, carry out, drive thru, or ALL DAY DELIVERY, Tom & Jerry's has been serving up great eats in DeKalb county for over 30 years! Homemade Italian Beef Sandwiches, All Beef Chicago Red Hot Dogs, Homemade
From the first look at the building, my expectations weren't overly ambitious. Good thing we didn't stop there! For the price, you can't do much better than Tom and Jerry's. The Italian beef was unbelievable, and you can get it topped with cheese for a small charge. The Cajun chicken was really good as well.

Steak 'n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company's name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word "steak" stood for
When I was growing up, the Steak n' Shake in our town didn't cook breakfast, only steakburgers and fries and milk shakes, lunch and dinner. Those were the 1950s. How times (and menus) have changed. On a recent fraternity reunion at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, we stopped for breakfast at the Steak 'n Shake location at 2380 Sycamore Road in DeKalb, not far from the NIU campus. Believe me, ordering breakfast at a Steak 'n Shake takes some getting used to. But the Classic Breakfast is a real pick-me-upper, especially for someone who usually doesn't consume anything more than a glass of orange juice in the morning. My Classic included two scrambled eggs, thick-sliced strips of Applewood smoked bacon, premium Tennessee Pride sausages, two fluffy buttermilk pancakes, fresh baked biscuits and a big glass of Minute Maid orange juice. Others had pancakes and eggs, breakfast tacos, a sausage, egg 'n cheese biscuit, a sausage and egg biscuit and (how could you resist?) a double cheeseburger with melted American cheese, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo with hash browns. Also, an order of chocolate, strawberry, banana and mocha milk shakes to cap it off, just to prove we were eating at a genuine Steak 'n Shake.
