Kortenberg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkɔrtə(m)bɛr(ə)x]) is a Belgian municipality located in the province of Flemish Brabant, about halfway between the cities of Brussels and Leuven. The municipality comprises the subdivisions or deelgemeenten of Erps-Kwerps, Everberg, Kortenberg proper and Meerbeek. On January 1, 2013 Kortenberg had a total population of 19,393. The total area is 34.52 km² which gives a population density of about 562 inhabitants per km². In the southern part of Everberg there is also a hamlet called Vrebos, while between Erps-Kwerps and Meerbeek there is another hamlet called Schoonaarde, which can be found in the proximity of the train station of Erps-Kwerps.

This establishment may be unremarkable from the outside, but very very remarkable when you experience their way of working. You enter the cafe via a door on the right. You then choose what you want within a matter of seconds. You can either eat there or take away (about 50/50). The maestro cook has a routine which is unequalled in my decades of experience. His chips are made to absolute world (=Belgian) standards. Any left-over chips are binned and every fry up is only for the next customer. All surfaces in the cooking area are kept scrupulously clean every few minutes. The assisting staff also manage their part of the process with effortless precision. This must be worthy of a visit by a film crew. Absolutely the best chippy I have ever visited anywhere. I go there regularly and the standard is always 100%. Amazing. Worth a detour!

A wonderful, unassuming high-end burger experience. I didn't realize the Belgiums love their burgers as much as they do. Gourmet options are what you get here, excellent service, great beverage selection and fabulous taste. Our Airbnb host didn't recommend it as it was too expensive - we disagree! Glad we went and explored for ourselves.
