Find out what European restaurants to try in Wichita. Dorothy clicked her heels to return to Kansas, and you'll want to do the same after you've visited this one-time cattle town turned modern, booming city, where the spirit of the Old West lives on. To get a feel of the early pioneer days, visit the recreated village at the Old Cowtown Museum. For a slightly more eccentric experience, visit the Museum of Ancient Treasures, which has everything from a baseball signed by Joe DiMaggio to a shrunken head. The Indian Center Museum features works by Plains Indian artists. Wichita is an aircraft manufacturing center, and the Kansas Aviation Museum honors pioneers in the field, as well as housing model planes. Exploration Place gives kids more insights into aviation and other scientific wonders. For nature and wildlife, check out Botanica's lovely gardens or head over to the Sedgwick County Zoo, home to over 350 species of animals. Wichita stays up when the sun goes down: there's nightlife, culture, karaoke and cuisine for all tastes.

Loved this building from the 1930s, the architecture is lovely. We had an early reservation, cocktails delicious, we had the trio and a ceasar salad with chicken (ample portions!!!!!) wine and cocktail list is extensive, quick friendly service, would definitely eat here again. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is bright and cheerful in a very classy style. Full selection of liquor beautifully displayed from hanging shelves. Very comfortable chairs with cushions I could sit in for hours, which is what we did as we enjoyed a leisurely lunch with wine and dessert this week. A very extensive lunch menu including egg dishes, sandwiches, crepes, hot entrees, and soups. Also a side menu of specialties like the truffle fries and Parisian potatoes, both of which were excellent. I had Crepe Josephine, great flavor and ample portion. For dessert I had the chocolate torte that comes with fruit and mouse. Dessert was large and rich enough for 2.Other members of my party raved about their meals; bistro burger, chicken pollard entree, croque monsier, and french dip.The restaurant has capacity to seat outdoors in the summer months which would give you even better opportunity to replicate Parisian café feeling. I know I’ll come here next time I’m in Wichita.

Prost

Having lived in Germany for a number of years and having traveled the country extensively, we viewed the arrival of a German restaurant in Wichita with excitement but caution. For the greatest part the excitement was well placed. The German beers on draft offer a good range of the old German lagers, pils, weizen, and dunklas. Additional imported beers are available in bottles. The schnitzels are very good with basic Wiener schnitzel, jaegerschnitzel, zigeunerschnutzel, and a few other schnitzel-based dishes. The currywurst is “echt”, the spaetzle is good, and German style salad is what one would expect. I would note that the Starters are extraordinarily excellent, especially the Brotzeit Teller and the Flammkuchen. The Rotkohl and the sauerkraut were disappointing, lacking the acidic character expected. Prost is a good representation of bierkellar food and it possesses the boisterous gemutluchkeit that one would expect.
