A planned commuter suburb, it is situated along the Metropolitan Branch of the historic Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, just northeast of Washington, D.C., and it shares a border and history with the adjacent neighborhood of Takoma, Washington, D.C. It is governed by an elected mayor and six elected councilmembers, who form the city council, and an appointed city manager, under a council-manager style of government. Last night was our first visit to Sfoglina, and it was my birthday, which my husband had mentioned when he made the reservation. All the staff wished me Happy Birthday. Nice!Enjoyed a creative cocktail and a superb meal with good chianti. My husband was thrilled at the selection of grappas. The ambiance: lovely and the staff attentive. Our meal was exceptional and worth the price. Look forward to returning for another special occasion.

This is a great place to take somebody for a nice leisurely lunch away from the busier areas of Chevy Chase or Bethesda. Formal service at a relaxed pace, though the food was a bit slow last week. (i think the dumbwaiter that brings food up from the kitchen was broken.)Decent sized lunch portions at a reasonable price, but if you are hungrier you'll want to add an appetizer which obviously inflates the bill quickly. Hate to say it, but a large free parking lot is definitely a bonus in that area.

Le Diplomate is simply a machine. They manage to serve throngs of customers with a level of âcalm and collectedâ that is impressive. Ordering drinks at the crowded bar was not a problem. The hostess waiting for me to get my drink before seating me was not a problem. My server responding quickly to requests was also no problem.The restaurant itself is bustling and loud. The lights, the sounds, the people, and the pleasant smells are wonderful and intense. If it is nice outside, request a patio seat. The food itself is delicious. They do mound on the fries a bit too much where they come as a side, yet they are still very good.The steak frites is the best steak frites I have eaten.The salads are leafy, fresh and generous.You canât go wrong here though I would suggest...1. Might not be the place for baby strollers or small kids.2. Business or business casual attire. Sure, in 2019 no one can really enforce any dress codes, yet you can help them out by making an effort to not wear ball caps, shorts and flip flops. Besides, sometimes dressing more nicely can be fun and it shows respect for both a great restaurant and the people you are with.
