Situated overlooking the clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean, White Salt has been pleasing its diners since opening in 2005 and is now established as one of the premier dining venues along the beautiful coast.Be it coffee, cake, lunch, dinner ,breakfast
Went for a Sunday lunch as we were in the area. Ordered the smashed avo which was supposed to come with some sort of beetroot relish and I also ordered a glass of red wine. I canât even describe how awful the avo smash was. The avocado was almost brown, the toasted sourdough was not toasted, just bread and worst of all, the beetroot relish was not beetroot relish at all. Iâm not sure whether it was cranberry sauce or some kind of cherry jam or whatever, but the sourdough was sitting on top of this disgusting sweet sauce and between that and the cold brown avocado on top, the bread was really soggy. Clearly they had run out of the beetroot relish. I had one bite of it and called the waiter over and said âIâm not paying for this, itâs disgusting.â So he took it away as it was inedible as far as I was concerned. He came back and said I wonât have to pay. We had waited around 40 minutes for this. My husband had fish and chips and said they were okay. Also wine was $9 per glass for the house wine. During the 40 minutes I waiting for the avocado smash, I noticed that the wine had not even been filled to the measured line on the glass. I didnât point this out when I noticed it because as that stage, I thought well I canât prove I didnât already drink some, so I just copped it sweet. If youâre going to charge $9 for a glass of wine, you better make sure you fill it to the line!! Anyway, on paying the bill, the manager apologised about the food Iâd sent back and said I was right to do so, as it wasnât acceptable. However I was starving and was not asked once if I wanted anything else to eat nor was I even given something complimentary like some bread?? Seriously, if you go out for lunch and the lunch needs to be sent back because itâs rubbish, have you suddenly ceased to exist or need food?? Needless to say, that was our first and last time at white salt. Thanks for taking the time to post your comments,As we stated at the time you are completely correct, it should not have gone out, hence there was no charge. Occasionally things can go wrong and once again we apologise that this happened on the occasion of your visit. Regards Tim and Claire Leech Proprietors

a group of elderly gentlemen and their good lady wives celebrated an enjoyable dinner here, had a set menu with a shared anti-pasta starting platter and then a choice of 3-4 mains and coffee nice little alfresco area that we nearly filled, maybe suggest if have a gathering that large not to book anyone else in there, a couple of tables did ask to move, not that we were loud but a group of 20 odd will make more noise than smaller groups, food very tasty and the service was good

I recently went to this restaurant for lunch on my wife's birthday. We had been a gift voucher of $100 to spend so cost was not a factor.Wife had the pork knuckle, which (i think ) had mash potatoes and sauerkraut .This pork knuckle was huge and possibly the best roast pork and crackling I have ever tasted, but not cheap at $45.I had the plate of sausages which consisted of 6 sausages and sauerkraut. $39Very tasty washed doen with an excellent german pilsiner .Wife wanted a Mojito which was not available as they did not have mint.A long island ice tea was the second choice and it was good. You have to line up at the counter to order food which was a slow process,You pay at the counter at the time of ordering.Table service is not really provided, except for when your meal is bought out. There are self serve condiments on a side table with mustard ,tomato sauce and tartare. We were not aware of this table until we left, but the staff were happy to bring us these when asked.Over all the service is pretty basic but friendly.Lunch menu items specials are around $15 ,so you don't have to spend a hundred to enjoy a feed like I did ( well I did have the voucher )Overall it was a fairly satisfying ,enjoyable visit.Thank you for your review :)
