The Silver Star, in Norwalk, is your basic American diner on steroids. Itâs a huge place (they can do banquets here), with a menu to match â youâd need months to work your way through it. Well-lit, with a lot of mirrored walls; in all, a pleasant ambience. Open for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. You can get anything from a hot dog to moussaka to huevos rancheros to a three-scoop waffle sundae. Portions are generous, to put it mildly. Full bar. Service: all right, considering how busy it is. Not fancy (doesnât try to be), but very good. All in all, deservedly popular.

My friends and I met here for lunch before getting our nails done. We came around 1:30PM on a Friday and there were a few tables taken but it was pretty open. The inside looked like your typical diner: Formica tables, booths covered in vinyl, kind of drab colors. It was amazing. I felt like I time traveled back into the 80s. It was wonderful. We were handed your typical 20-30 page diner menu (maybe a bit of an exaggeration but you get where I'm going with this). They had everything a diner should, from breakfast to sandwiches to the random full dinner entrees diners also do. Our server was incredibly attentive and was very patient with us girls who were too busy catching up to look at the menu and place an order. I got a grilled cheese with tomato and fries and it was perfect. Not too greasy, but greasy enough, delicious melty cheese, perfectly toasty bread, fresh tomato, and the fries were excellent. My friends really enjoyed their choices as well. This was diner food done well and the prices were very reasonable. The diner was clean and the service was excellent. The manager who was manning the cash register in the front was cracking jokes and was incredibly friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for decent diner food!
