A cold evening in October was cheered up no end by a pleasant meal in this unpretentious restaurant. We shared a tapas starter, which was full of good flavous, but probably would have foregone the aperitif cocktail which accompanied it. The lamb shanks were a little disappointing but the other food was fine, and we did not have dessert, but the ambiance was friendly and the host attentive and genial. Other guests appeared delighted with their meals.

Travelers eating at restaurants are always conscious of costs with an eye on the menu prices and mentally calculating exchange rates to understand the value they are receiving for their hard earned money. Although we visited this restaurant while part of a WW1 battlefield tour (and the price of lunch was built into the tour price) one look at the menu highlighted that the prices were more than reasonable and my own lunch dish, the carbonara pizza, was fantastic, very high quality, done in the brick oven to perfection. When in Arras and you want to have a coffee/tea with some pastries, this hidden jewel is where you should go. The pastries taste as good as they look; stunning. When asked, we were told that it's all handmade in the cellar below the shop. Don't miss this...
