Really nice interior. Relaxing and comfortable. Nephew had chicken burger which he really enjoyed. Hubby had fish and chips. He said it was okay. Had better but also had worse. I had chicken Kiev. Chicken was lovely quality but not a sign of any garlic butter inside but to be fair it was still nice. Staff were lovely - they couldn't have been any better. I might go back and try breakfast one day as reviews look great.

Kitchen, bar and grill at the new Hilton Garden Inn - great addition to the north east's vibrant restaurant scene
Don't normally eat in hotel restaurants as they are usualy a) more expensive than and b) do not offer as good food as independent restaurants. Unforthunately there is no restaurant in the vicinity of this hotel in which one would wish to eat. Ate twice here for this reason. Starters night 1 - lentil soup, absolutely delicious, thick green lentil soup, wonderful. Night 2 potato and leek soup, bland, tasteless, underseasoned and warm rather than hot.Mains - night 1 rack of ribs - large portion, plenty of meat but transverse bone at end of rack meant cutting the ribs from the rack was almost impossible.Meat itself very tasty and tender. NIght 2 rump steak - served blue as requested but outside could have been caramelised more. I still do not understabnd this desire to serve chips from from potatoes still with their skins on - detracts from the appearance. Desert - Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Wine? Selection not great, only Rosé on offer is a Californian Zinfandel - ie undrinkable. Chose a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc instead - way too acidic. Second night I stuck with expensivefizzy beer - unfortunately the better option.

Clean and tidy interior, friendly and properly trained staff. 2 proper bacon, 2 non plastic sausage, mushrooms, hash browns, egg, tomato, beans and toast for £2.95 before 11 am. Seriously surprised at the quality for the price. Parking is a bit of an issue, but plenty spaces in the red brick terrace houses on the other side of the roundabout.
