A lovingly restored bar and eatery in the heart of Tynemouth. Youâll find us midway down Tynemouthâs bustling Front Street just through the sleepy arches of the old arcade. Nestled amongst the boutique shops, restaurants, old pubs, surf shops and deliâs t
We used to go here every week but once the chef left and the food quality suffered we stepped back... The replacement chef is OK.... The place is tired now and needs a serious lick of paint too which I am told is happening in August... Fingers crossed as we do like the place and the staff Hi Stephen,We are sorry to hear youâre feeling a little disappointed with Lola Jeans as of late, especially with you being someone who has been a regular guest in the past! We agree that our venues are in need of a little TLC due to the wear and tear our busy weekends bring. With this in mind, we have two big refurbishments planned due in October which weâre very excited about! We canât wait for everyone to see what we have in store. We take great pride in our food quality and quality of service, and will be sure to pass on your comments to the management team to ensure that our food is up to the signature Lola Jeans standard you have come to expect of us. Booked the afternoon tea for a family meet-up but Was left feeling underwhelmed by it. Although It was nice thatâs all it was-nice and not the occasion weâd hoped for. We were asked brown or white bread for our sandwiches, all of us asked for brown, yet we all got white seeded buns, and the scones came with jam and cream but no butter? When I went to pay I mentioned that two of us would be back in for supper the next evening, then I was asked âare you sureâ explained itâ had been booked a few month previous as our original booking for May was cancelled at the last minute by one of their staff because theyâd forgot they had a wedding party in . Then I was told we couldnât be booked in because it was a Monday and they only Open from Wednesday onwards. Considering we had travelled for nearly 3hrs to make the afternoon tea booking and were slotting in the next days evening meal during a stopover, we left feeling dismayed. Sadly will not returnHI Thank you for your feedback. I am disappointed that you were underwhelmed by your experience. I take great pride in our food and more importantly looking after our customers. With regard to your afternoon tea, I (Joanne) the owner was the one who prepared that for you. The buns we use, we have used from day one, and our brown buns are seeded and the white ones plain. The brown buns are not dark in colour like a wholemeal, they are very light. I would have been more than happy to change them to brown bread, if you weren't happy. We have never provided butter with our Scones, with clotted cream and Jam. However, this could have easily been rectified, if you had of wanted butter we would have provided.Regarding the booking, there has obviously been a break down in communication somewhere. Since the café opened in 2017 we have never been open on a Monday evening. I am sorry that you felt you had been messed about. Kind regardsJoanne

Iâm not veggie or vegan but enjoyed my visit here with a local friend. The interior can best be described as 70s/80s shabby chic. The two ladies running the place were very welcoming and talked enthusiastically about the food when I asked questions. We went for the apple and celeriac soup with a mix of sourdough and Ezekiel bread as accompaniments. The Ezekiel bread was whole meal with sprouted lentils and beans mixed in which gave it a nice body. Vegan âbutterâ was a new experience. I enjoyed it, my companions less so. The bill was very reasonable and while it is possible to pay by card, cash is much preferred.
