Having lived in the Ann Arbor / Saline / Ypsilanti area for the past twenty-five years I have had the opportunity to enjoy most if not all the Chinese restaurants in the area. The Pearl River Restaurant, an unassuming little take-out/eat-in Chinese restaurant in the K-Mart strip mall at the southeast corner of I-94 and Rawsonville Rd has what may be the best price/taste or price/quality in the area. Is there better CHinese food in the area? Perhaps. Szechuan West comes to mind. Is there cheaper Chinese food in the area? Again, yes, Great Wall is a cheap and huge buffet. But in terms of quality-for-the-price, Pearl RIver is hard to beat!

While the atmosphere is not outstanding, the service was much better than passable. The selection on the buffet bar was much better, more variety and better stocked than most. If you need a break near Exit 190 from I-94, think of this. It is just a little west of the intersection of the south service drive.
