If you don't want to stay in the hotels near the autobahn this is a good place to stay. Quit, good beds, large rooms and friendly staff. The restaurant is cost and the food good. The schloss is in the center of town a couple of minutes walk from the main square. Because of construction it was not easy to find but friendly townspeople guided us (thank you). We'll do it again

One waitress for 45 people, no up selling or menu explanations, she worked very hard. Menu is different and varied however the food did not live up to the price and expectations. Chicken was very niceamd cooked well, but the accompanying hard (raw) yellow zucchini with raw onion was just terrible and the blue potatoes might have been nicer if they were seasoned, overall meal was pretty average. Beverages were good with nice selection of Bio Beers brewed locally, and a good German wine list. Staff need help when busy and some training in basic waiting skills would assist in better service to customers.

In der gesamten Umgebung von Machern und Brandis gibt es auÃerhalb der Kernzeiten keine Möglichkeit auf ein leckeres warmes Essen. Einzige positive Ausnahme: Die âKastanieâ! Hier ist man tagsüber stets Willkommen und kann in herrlichem Ambiente aus einer Vielzahl wohlschmeckender Gerichte wählen. Und das Ganze frisch zubereitet! Hervorzuheben ist der äuÃerst leckere Kartoffelstampf, der mich an die Kochkunst meiner Oma erinnert. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, schnell und stets aufmerksam. Im Sommer lädt der groÃe und gemütliche Biergarten zum Verweilen ein. Kostenfreie Parkmöglichkeiten sind ausreichend an der HauptstraÃe sowie auf einem Parkplatz vorhanden. Ich komme gerne wieder!
