Arriving into Xlendi at around lunchtime, my friend and I just wanted a coffee as we have had a large breakfast at our accommodation. Having parked the car, we saw the Kuchenbar just across the road and took a table on the pavement. I ordered fresh orange juice as advertised on the menu. The sullen Englishwoman who took the order told me they hadn't it. My friend and I immediately got the impression that this woman was doing her job under sufferance and couldn't wait for the tourist season to close. Anyway, I got juice in a plastic bottle. My friend and I both ordered a cappuccino each which took ages to arrive. Now, let me say that we have had cappuccinos, lattes and coffees all week on Gozo, and they had all been lovely, as you would expect on the Maltese Islands, being so near Italy. Well, the two cappuccinos we got at the Kuchenbar were the nastiest, most tasteless drinks we encountered all week. Even sugar could not improve them and we could not bring ourselves to drink them.We got up to leave, our coins totted up to the correct price. We told the unpleasant waitress about the horrible cappuccinos and she said - wait for it!! - "well, YOU ordered it". Eh, what?? She then counted through our coins and complained, in a very common manner, that we had "short-changed" her. When she counted the coins again she saw that she was wrong, but don't think for a moment that she apologised to us for her false accusation. Suffice it to say that we won't be darkening the Kuchenbar's doorstep again!

Small and Friendly. Vegetarian options available. Open for breakfast and lunch. Ikel veġetarjan disponibbli. Miftuha ghal breakfast u lunch.
We often go to this snack bar. We go mainly for English breakfast, sandwiches and drinks. Everything is fresh. The staff go out of their way to please the customers. The 3 main reasons we love going to this bar are because everything is fresh, low prices and the drinks are always done with the proper ingredients. It's a very relaxing place.
