Texas Monthly rates Maxine's one of The 40 Best Small-Town Cafes in Texas and one of the 40 Best Breakfast Places in Texas!
Small town local restaurant with a great breakfast menu & nice to choose from a la carte menu. Recently added espresso drinks, sometime even in a milkshake! Huge blueberry pancakes, even kid size, are delicious. Also like the oatmeal with blueberries and toasted pecans. Two baked good cabinets make having something sweet very tempting with every cookie ever tried worth the calories. Location is great downtown Bastrop (just 30 minutes from Austin) close to Colorado river accessible between Wells Fargo and Neighbors via a bunch of steps to a walking trail that goes to Fishermen's park.
Came in for a bite to eat. Nice, clean cafe. Staff friendly and helpful. Ordered the roasted red pepper panini with artichokes. I asked for extra artichokes and it was delicious. Iâm not sure if it would have been tasty with less artichokes. They have a July special of panini, chips and drink for $9.99. I did not order a coffee so canât say about that. Is located conveniently near dc I 71.
We showed up with 15 guys after a soccer tournament this Sunday afternoon and they were very efficient and helpful. We pretty much took over the restaurant. All was well except they use that canned fake "cheese" substance on their cheese fries. Um. Please just use real cheddar. Everyone enjoyed their food.
