This place has always been one of our favourite go to places for lunch, dinner and special occasions.Set in a lovely harbour location and offering ales we have never been disappointed on our many visits here. The menu offers a range of food to suit all tastes and appetites, my go to favourite is the ploughman’s, definitely the best in town in my opinion! If you want to eat in the restaurant I recommend booking as it is very popular in the evening for large parties.Occasionally there is live music on in the bar area which adds to the cosy atmosphere of this wonderful pub!

The Royal Standard

The Royal Standard is a traditional local pub with wood ceiling beams, a log fire, a great selection of real ales, Pieminister pies and Traditional Sunday Roasts….we look forward to seeing you!

We called in while on holiday in Weymouth, after reading reviews on Tripadvisor we visited The Royal Standard on a Tuesday evening. On entering it was very quiet only a couple of drinkers. I ordered a pint of ale and a coke and asked "Are you doing food tonight " the answer was " Only Friday, Saturday and Sunday ". With 3 ales on tap,( all were 4 % ) I would not say this was a good selection as stated by other reviewers who all seem to live nearby. It was a wasted trip for us as we wanted to eat and had to make alternative plans.Thank you very much for your review. Apologies for you having to arrange alternative eating arrangements , but currently we are in the middle of transitional period, food wise and the limited hours are what can be done at the moment.Regarding the ales sorry there wasn’t one of your preferred choices but we serve a very good pint and with the luxury of being a free house we change our ales regularly. Hopefully you’ll catch us in another trip when there might be something more to your liking, as we have been mentioned in the Dorset magazine for exceptional ales. Look forward to hopefully seeing you again soon.
