We stop in for early dinner. This place has been around for nearly 90 years. You just know they got something right about barbecue and pie. My sandwich (Turkey) and potato salad side were good, but the different ice cream pie slices on nutted cookie crust were delicious. Butter pecan was creamy. Chocolate was silky. I was talking to one of my co-workers about BBQ places in Shawnee. My co-worker is a native of this area and has explored most of the local restaurants. She recommended Billy Boy Bar-B-Que. It is a few blocks from the Oklahoma Baptist University main campus. When I arrived after work, the place was fairly busy. The restaurant is family-owned. I was greeting warmly. There is plenty of parking spaces. You order your food at the register. The menu includes hickory-smoked beef, turkey, and pulled pork. There were a variety of sides like baked beans, green beans, and cole slaws. Additionally, you can order fried catfish if you desire. The food was pretty good. If you are looking for good BBQ close to OBU, this restaurant is for you.

I was leaving work late and wanted to surprise my wife with a good meal. Many of my colleagues at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) mentioned the virtues of Robbâs Smokehouse. I decided to give them a try. The restaurant is within walking distance for most OBU students. On a good day, folks can smell the BBQ smoke generated by the restaurant. There were a variety of sides like baked beans, green beans, and cole slaws. The food was pretty tasty. I highly recommend this BBQ restaurant for those individuals with a taste for BBQ while visiting OBU campus.
