When traveling through Sintra, Refugio of Ciclista is a must for a meal. We ate here on our Jeep tour through Sintra. You really feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere. Such a warm feeling inside. Decor is modest. Road biking jerseys don the walls. The food is plentiful and delicious. Beverages include soft drinks and wine. The owner/cook is so friendly.

Wonderful food just outside Sintra -- not easy to find, and basically one meal -- grilled chicken, french fries,and tomato salad. House wine is excellent. Always crowded so there can be a long wait -- the chicken is outstanding in taste though small in size -- suggest coming for lunch around 2 in the afternoon.

We made a booking just in case, and glad we did. We ended up seated right in the middle of the main dining room not far from the grill: best place in fully packed restaurant. Authentic portuguese, very friendly service, good meat and Douro wine (next time we try an Alentejo as the wine list is quite comprehensive) and not to forget the great starters (jamon Iberico and garlic olives).The Spumante Sangria looked hellish so we'll try that as well. And I think we'll also want to try grilled fish..... And maybe the desserts as well.Count 20-25⬠each.
