WE stopped here on our way back to Beech Mtn. after a day on the Blue Ridge. We were a bit late but they said they would serve us. I had the baked potato stuffed with pulled pork and all the fixings . Their was only 1 person doing the cooking , the serving and watching the store. She was nice enough to make a new potato for me since it was late and the others were made during the day. The food was good but really not too much better than many other non-barbecue places . The meat was tasty abut a bit on the tough side. The sauces for the meat were excellent and plentiful. The view from the porch was fantastic and the lady doing all the jobs was friendly and helpful. I would go back and try it for lunch when everything was a bit fresher.

The chopped pork was ok- not as much flavor as I would have liked. The hushpuppies were tasty. The traditional North Carolina red bbq slaw was too sweet for me and would have benefitted from a bit more vinegar. Others in our group loved their meals having ordered a variety plate. The portion sizes are tremendous!

We stumbled onto this store when we pulled into Linville looking for a place to eat lunch before heading up Grandfather Mountain. We consulted Tripadvisor and were delighted to discover it's the #1 place to eat in town and we were less than 500 yards away! The store won our hearts the minute we drove up. This is no reproduction. This store will celebrate it's 100th anniversary this month. It's the real deal. We loved the atmosphere. Clean and bright, appropriately decorated inside, but obviously much like it was decades ago, which is a good thing in this case. We were warmly received by the hostess who told us everything we wanted to know about the history of the store and the bbq. You place your order at a counter, sit wherever you want inside or on the front porch, and they bring your food to you. Bty the time we left, every seat inside and out was taken, which tells you something. You can find the menu online. Not real long, but what we had was real good! After you eat, wander over to the building next door to see some of the interesting local crafts, and step out back to see the stage where you can listen to live music at night on the weekend while you eat. There's an old bbq shed out there and an old side building with a big, original "Clabber Girl" metal sign nailed over the door. Like I said, "the real deal." We're glad we went.
