Have visited here numerous occasions. When we have friends or family visiting we book a table and bring them because it never fails to impress. Weâve been with friends, weâve dragged family there, weâve gone by ourselves...any excuse really! The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive, the food is always delicious and there is a really lovely atmosphere here. The menu changes quite frequently so you are never tempted to go elsewhere for variety and the portion sizes are generous. To be honest I canât fault it.

For those who do not want the formality of dining in the restaurant, the Library Bar, covering most of the Restaurant's menu, is the ideal place for a lighter meal.

I find that this place markets itself as slightly up-market, but our experience was anything but â even down to the single sheet loose paper menus. Bar area is clean and tidy â and thatâs probably the best thing about this place. Service was very poor. One of the girls serving our table did advise that she had âjust started working thereâ, but in that case she should have been better supervised and instructed. We eventually managed to order drinks, which arrived ok. We also asked for a couple of jugs of water for the table. Two large bottles arrived, but no glasses (I suppose it was maybe our own fault we didnât specify at the time that we wanted glasses as well) â we had to ask for these separately!!!!While only half of our group were having starters, we ordered bread for the table, as ânibblesâ for the rest. Starters arrived, but no bread. Starters were finished when eventually a plate with a few slices of bread arrived â no side-plates or knives for anyone, and no butter â all had to be requested separately.I had the Brie to start â it was nice, if not very much there. I then had the âslow roast lambâ â this was fine, but not something youâd be rushing back for. One of my friends has a Yorkshire Pudding with their meal â she could have done with a hammer and chisel with it!!!! Other than that, the general feeling was that the food was âOKâ.Would I go back?? Maybe if under peer pressure, or if everywhere else locally was booked out!!!! First, my apologies if your visit didn't match your expectations. Myself and my team were very busy that day with over 150 covers served before you arrived on that day. i find some inaccuracy in your review as we do not class ourselves as upmarket and by the way I didn't know you were in charge of the business strategy. If you take a look at our menu you will find you can get a good meal for 12 euro or half of that in the Cafe. These are not upmarket prices. The only thing we try to do here is to serve decent food at a decent price. This is not my first venture in New Ross, and I do have a lot of respect for the support we get every day from the New Ross community. If you want to survive in this business at local level, you need a good business attitude reflected on the quality of the meals provided and the price. On that day, there was no slow cooked lamb on the menu, you had one of the roasts of the day at 6pm, which was priced at â¬12.50 with all garnishes. This is not a upmarket choice, this roast was cooked for lunch time and was very popular through the day.As for the staff member who stated she had only started we will speak with her on this matter. She is a new staff member and lack of experience but other customers have commented on the good quality of her service. Nobody is perfect, everybody has to learn, but once there is a will, there is a way and it will improve. So maybe you have to find the way to improve your reviews, give the right information, and to make them perfect as per your expectations for an upmarket restaurant who served meals at â¬12.00 So maybe if under peer pressure I need an extra customer, I will welcome you back if it's booked out every where else.
