The sushi was amazing! They also had some hurricane fries that were out of this world. We went for lunch so had "grandmas" iced tea which was so refreshing.

We had some time before a function across the street at the Tavares Community Hall so we popped in for chinese food. It is nothing special but prices are reasonable for a decent quantity. Owners practically do not speak English and as far as cleanliness goes it is a typical Chinese restaurant. On the scale of ambiance it would be very low. Locals go here for takeout which seemed quite busy.

This is a new authentic Japanese Restaurant that opened up in Maui, HI in June of 2012.
A little jem with authentic Japanese food prepared by Japanese proprietor. Short on ambiance, but long on authentic tastes. Bento box, tempura udon and sushi selections are all outstanding. Less than 1/4 mile off the Haleakala higway, so an easy stop on the way down from a day of touring. Ample free parking. BYO. Popular with locals and sadly missed by most tourists.
