Asian Pho Bistro recently opened in Fairfield. The owner/head chef is the daughter who worked for many years at the nearby Thai Noodle House. If you liked the food at the Noodle House you should really enjoy the food at APB. The menu features primarily Thai dishes with some Vietnamese soups and appetizers. Order off the menu. No buffet trays with food sitting under heat lamps. The specialty is Vietnamese pho soups and Thai-inspired stir fry noodle dishes. I have eaten the seafood and beef pho soups as well as the Tom Yum Thai soup. All are very large bowls filled with rice noodles, protein, and bean sprouts/lime wedge, fresh jalopeno pepper slice on the side. All soups are good. The Tom Yum is really more similar to a Tom Kha soup as it contains coconut milk in the soup base. The fresh Vietnamese spring rolls are nicely made and a real bargain at $2.50 for 2. The fried Vietnamese spring rolls contain minced pork and veggies and are very good. The best appetizer that I have tried to date is the Thai chicken wings. In a small city with lots of mediocre ethnic food restaurants, Asian Pho Bistro should do well.

Shokai delivers good sushi made well and tasty. Their new location is impressive and large, able to handle large parties and reportedly private parties too. This restaurant is consistent in quality and is consistently busy. A welcome addition to Fairfield's growing restaurant scene.

This is a Fairfield staple. You have a choice of buffet or menus on board. I enjoy both. It's a favorite of mine. It's simple and good with nice servings very generous with portions. Fresh Thai American food. Meaning it's been Americanized Thai. Enjoy.
