We went yesterday to try it and the food was good but the waitress was great Pretty and clean, it was busy also. Standard good food nothing exciting in menu selection. Wish some restaurants would offer and stick with some house special that would be their signature dish that would be different Itâs definitely worth a try here though

multi cuisine restaurant BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER INDIAN, MEDITERRANEAN, ITALIAN AND AMERICAN CATERING ON REQUEST
The Olive is a relatively new addition to the bustling Prince Rupert food scene, having opened its doors just over a month and a half ago. The eatery, which fashions itself as a âmulti cuisine restaurantâ (though there is a clear Indian bent to most of the dishes), replaced Theaannâs Greek Palace (closed its doors in December 2016). I, for one, was pleased to see that The Olive was going to be offering something different to Prince Rupert foodies because God knows we have more than enough pizza places and Asian cuisine restaurants; so, itâs nice to have a bit more variety on the proverbial menu. I have been to The Olive on a number of occasions, both solo and with family. The atmosphere and ambiance of The Olive is pretty subdued. Each time Iâve gone, itâs been quiet. Thatâs not to say it hasnât been busy â just quiet. I suspect it has something to do with the yellow-ish walls in the restaurant. I know theyâre newly painted, but it just seems so drab, especially in a place with very little natural light. Music could also do much to improve the atmosphere, but Iâm not sure what else could be done beyond that? To be fair, Theaannâs also suffered from this exact same issue: the atmosphere was kind of drab â a downer. Perhaps it has more to do with the space than with the actual operation? Now, a comment on customer service: This needs to be improved. Servers clearly need more training and experience. During the dinner service, they practically whisper at you (at least our server did). More than once, some in our party had to ask âpardon me?â because the server was so quiet. Speak up! And then, after orders were taken, the menus (which have nearly microscopic text on the page) were just left on our table and continued to sit there until after our mains had arrived. Basically, we had to ask that the menus be taken away. So, clearly, more training is in order. I will give them points on one important matter, though: the server messed up two of our orders (gave us the wrong dish); we brought this to their attention; they owned the error and offered a modest discount. The breakfast crew, in contrast to the dinner crew, seemed much more confident: they spoke loud enough to hear; didnât leave menus sitting on the table for an extended period; and delivered breakfast with no issue. That said, The Olive is still a very young operation and likely has some growing pains to get through. Improving on the customer service will go a long way in this regard. The food: Having visited The Olive a number of times, Iâve tried a few dishes: the Asian wings; the Kick Bang Shrimp; the Mediterranean plate; fish and chips; Salmon shrimp piccata; the Mediterranean fettuccine; strawberry crepe and the mango mascarpone. Without getting too wordy, it was mostly good. The chicken wings were good, but nothing special; that is to say, they didnât really stand out â they were just basic chicken wings sold at a slightly inflated price. The Kick Bang Shrimp were quite well done: the shrimp were beautifully seasoned and gave that delightful âpopâ in your mouth that you get with perfectly cooked shrimp. The Mediterranean plate was light and refreshing. The fish and chips were good but, like the chicken wings, didnât really stand out. There are much better fish and chip options in town. What about the Mediterranean fettuccine? Well, I was excited to try this dish because it features, as per the menu, prawns, scallops, herbs and delightful sauce, but I have to be honest and say this dish was probably the most disappointing one Iâve tried: the sauce was pretty scant; the scallops werenât cleaned properly (every now and again I got bits of sand (?) in my mouth) and, probably the biggest sin of the dish. . . the pasta was poorly cooked: the noodles were very thick, gummy and in a big, unappealing lump. Not nice! That debacle aside, there was one major standout: the Salmon Shrimp Piccata was absolutely fantastic! The dish was light, not too heavy and beautifully presented. The shrimp were cooked expertly and, most important, the salmon was juicy and full of flavour. The dish was easily the highlight of the restaurant and, if you decide to visit The Olive, I definitely recommend the salmon shrimp piccata. It is filling, but not too filling.A quick comment on breakfast and dessert: When I visited for breakfast, I tried the strawberry crepe. Now, if Iâm not mistaken, The Olive claims to make everything in-house. If this is true, then the crepe is pretty mediocre. I appreciate that they use fresh strawberries as opposed to the frozen stuff that most other places in this town use, but the crepe itself was just wildly unremarkable. It looked â and tasted â to me like a pre-packaged crepe â like those ones you can buy from Save-on-Foods. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that it was exactly that. Freshly-made crepes usually come warm, not cool to the touch and looking like âFriedaâs French Style Crepesâ (the brand available next door at Save-On). On the other hand, if The Olive pre-makes the crepes (and makes them look exactly like store-bought ones), then thatâs a big no-no, too. Zorbas Taverna is already notorious for pre-making meals and simply re-heating them (lasagne, anyone?). We donât need more of that. Okay, end of rant. What about dessert? The mango dish was cool and refreshing! In summary, the setting is kind of âblahâ; the customer service needs improvement, and the food is hit or miss. If nothing else, consider visiting The Olive for the salmon piccata. This dish is clearly the star of the menu. The beautiful synthesis of presentation and taste make it worth the visit.FOOD: 3/5SERVICE: 2/5VALUE: 2.5/5RECOMMENDATION: The Olive is still a new and growing restaurant. Hopefully they will improve on some of the things noted above. If they do, then they can only get better. If they donât, then I will lament the loss of Theaannâs Greek Palace.Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. we do appreciate all our clients for their feedbacks as it's very important to us. we are glad to know that, you liked our Mediterranean plate, kick bang shrimp, mango mascarpone & salmon shrimp piccata. Thank you for recommending our salmon shrimp piccata. But, we are also sorry to hear that the scallops you had weren't cleaned properly & you got the bit of sand in your mouth. These scallops we are buying from a reputed food suppliers & it comes in a vacuum sealed pack for ready to use. we will definitely take precautions to avoid such issues in the future. we do understand that some of our front line staffs weren't experienced & needed more training. but currently there is a big difference in our customer service as we have more experienced staffs up front now.sorry to know that, the crepe you had was cold & you felt that, it's a pre-packaged one. If we are not making any food items in our house we do not claim that, we are making it. we have a crepe maker in our kitchen & we make it as per order & not only the crepe but we also started to make own pasta's in our kitchen.we will be getting new menus with better size & font in the next week. so that everyone will be able to read our menu without any difficulties. Thank you for bringing this into our attention.Coming to our wings, the one we see on the above pic are not Asian wings they are salt & pepper wings. our Asian wings are much more different than these ones & those wings are tossed in homemade Asian sauce. Hope you will try that next time when you come in & you will like it.Fish & chips: we used to give cod fish but now that's been changed to Halibut, so you will clearly Experience the difference in case if you try it in the future.Décor: As you mentioned above, we are a newly opened Restaurant & we definitely need to improve the ambience of our Restaurant. since it's a newly opened we do have certain limitations so we need some more time to improve the atmosphere of it but we will definitely be doing it.once again, thank you so much for your feedback as we have taken it seriously & we will do the necessary changes. we look forward to your visit & more feedbacks in the future. Hope you will have a better experience next time when you visit "The olive".
