We were looking for something to do that children (4&7) would enjoy. My girlfriend having seen Malai Farm out of the bus window one day thought this might be a good place to try. Maiai Farm ended up being an excellent place to spend time with the kids. It's a large petting zoo, all of the animals looked healthy and well taken care of. The grounds were clean and there were none of those “aromas” that you usually associate with petting zoos. We ended up staying there for a couple of hours and we all had fun! There is a small restaurant located at the back of the property, the food was good and reasonably priced. The only entry requirement is that you purchase a basket of animal feed (greens, carrots, and corn) for 100 Baht. You will easily use what is in the basket and probably want to purchase more at various stations scattered around the facility for 20 Baht a pop. They open at 8am, I would suggest getting there early (by 9am) to beat the crowds and the heat.

The Siam Insect-Zoo & Museum is a great place for famlies visiting Chiang Mai. The facility was renovated in 2010 and includes exhibits with insects ranging from caterpillars to beetles to butterflies.
I traveled alone to the Siam Insect Zoo by taxi from Chiang Mai because Hubby wasn't interested in looking at insect displays. I'm so glad I did. This was incredibly interesting, besides being the only insect zoo I've ever heard of, anywhere in the world. The owner of the B&B we stayed at in Chiang Mai told me that the insect zoo was established by a man who'd contracted malaria from a mosquito bite in his youth, which caused him to start researching mosquitos, and then other insects as well. The collection of preserved insects is astonishing - three rooms full of wall-to-wall and floor to ceiling displays, including thousands of insects from all over the world, along with a wealth of information about each creature. I was delighted to enter the butterfly garden, where beautiful specimens were flitting from flower to flower. They weren't afraid to get close to me, and a few nearly landed on me. There's a spider room with live specimens of gargantuan spiders, many poisonous, all confined in aquariums. If the staff would clean the glass, they'd be much easier to watch and visitors would be able to take photos. There's also a display with aquariums containing many species of large "walking stick" insects. You can hold one, if you're willing. Again the glass really needs cleaning. One aquarium contains one of the most poisonous insects on the planet - a giant red centipede. You can't hold this 12-inch long monster because his bite can kill a child or someone in frail health. I was fascinated watching a huge night-slayer scorpion, bearded dragons, beautiful iguanas, and a couple of turtles for good measure. Admission is only about $4 USD. I spent more than an hour checking out the displays. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Don't miss this museum if you're traveling anywhere near Mae Rim.

AlpacaHill is Thailands first alpaca farm with many friendly exotic animals. Guests can have a closeup encounter with these gentle animals. Great as a learning experience for children and fun as a family trip. Small petting farm. Other activities such as Zipline & Rope courses, electric ATV, Horse riding, and many other fun activities for the young ones to explore.
It’s a nice place, beautiful and well organized, the place also clean and many kind of nice animals in here, we can do direct contact with most of them and of course the main is the Alpacas, they are soare friendly and nice, but lots of other nice animals too! it would be nice for younger children also, this place also keep hygiene so strict, for another you can take photo then follow the instagram, later on in the reception, you can print out the photo for your souvenirs, this place charged about 300-400 baht, but it is very worth to visit, last but not least, Alpacca hills also have night safari due to many animals in here also nocturnal animals

One of the top tourist attractions in the city, SEA LIFE Bangkok boasts world-class features, such as a 270-degree glass tunnel and a glass bottomed boat in which to view the vast range of 8,000 amazing creatures.
The tour through the aquarium was excellent. The underwater tunnel provided an intimate view of a variety of sharks and other exciting sea creatures. While the electronic equipments were not as well maintained than the sea animals, the overall experience was excellent. And then I took the dive into the fish tank. So diving inside the aquarium was artificial and not as explorative as diving in the ocean, but the tank was so teeming with life that I literally had to get out of the way so that the shark would not swim into me. Unforgettable.

I visited the park as part of a "VIP Tour" package offered by "Tours with Tong" (not allowed to put URLs in reviews...) . We spent around 3 hours there. We had 3 main activities: -Visiting the adult tigers/lions/leopards which you get close to through a fence. You can give them some meat through the fence -Walking around with a 'teenage' leopard/tiger on a leash for they daily promenade -Feeding the cubs (the highlight) My cub-feeding experience resulted in several light bites all over my body (I could get back to the office boasting that I had bean "bitten by a lion!") and incredible memories. Imagine untamed kittens but the size of a rather large dog and matching teeth. Watch your fingers. :D They all seem in very good shape and not at all frightened by their caretakers or any other human (or walking chewing toy as they seem to perceive us). They are handled by local caretakers plus several international volunteers and all were very friendly both with us and the animals. I even gave a rather large cub his daily bath. We walked around with larger leopards and tigers, occasionally stopping to give them food. A good occasion to see them walk around outside of their cage. Their (friendly and very passionate) Australian caretaker holds them with you (we each had a leach on one side) and gives you plenty of explanations. Everybody took their time with us and we were never rushed. VIP tour means we went around in a private tuk-tuk and we alone whenever we were close to the animas. No bus. The animals seem all in good shape and well treated (and not afraid at all of humans).

While locked down for six months in Jomtien, we were always looking for day trips and after a short day at the beach as showers drove us off we headed over to Rayong and decided to take in the Aquarium. Glad we did and most interesting, and a very reasonable entry fee. While not large, it was very well laid out, and innovative as to how fish and coastal animals were displayed. It gave one a good idea of some of the Marine life on this area of the Thailand Coast. If in the area, I would put it on the to do list for sure.
