El Cora Crocodile Sanctuary will change your concept of wildlife through knowledge and close experiences that will make your hair stand on end. Our goal is to transmit the love for what surrounds us and the importance of conserving it through a guided tour by biologists and veterinarians who carry out the conservation and rehabilitation of the sanctuary.
One of the highlights of my May 2019 trip was a bike ride tour ("CrocoRide") to the El Cora Crocodile Sanctuary just outside Bucerias / Nuevo Vallarta. A truly unforgettable experience. The Cycling: Booked the bike tour with BikePlusLife in Nuevo Vallarta. The bikes are exceptionally well maintained and specialized for the varied terrain which is a mix of flat dedicated cycling paths in NV, a short amount of lateral highway road (with a wide cycling shoulder that most cities would be envious of), and then a long and winding back-country dirt road. The guide, Noemi, clearly enjoys cycling and is so informative about the mangroves and the many different trees and birds in this area, and her enthusiasm made it a fun cycling trip. The Sanctuary: the El Cora Crocodile Sanctuary is an unforgettable experience – educational and so engaging, and the creatures are all rescue/sanctuary so not a zoo. The tour was given by Alfredo, a young veterinarian from Guadalajara, with perfect English. It was fascinating to hear and see live examples of the complex (and sometimes entertaining) connections between the creatures, the tides and the flora in the swamp ecosystem. And to learn up close and safely about the extraordinary crocodile. It’s not huge, it’s not glittery or animated – but for anyone with curiousity about the world and compassion about nature, and for older kids to be engaged in it – this is a wonderful way to include that in your vacation experiences.

This aquarium holds over 250 species of fish, a marine museum, Gulf of Mexico Oceanic Fish Tank, walk-through aviary and crocodile and frog area. There are also three shows: a sea lion show, bird show and diving exhibition. For those who dare to, there is a swimming with sharks activity available!Located meters from the Malecon at the sea lion sculpture intersection. We are an educational and recreational institution that supports the conservation and protection of the environment. We take pride in offering the highest quality of service, which is reflected in our exhibitions, shows and educational programs, and this is all due to a professional and interdisciplinary team.
We enjoyed this Acuario very much. The animal shows were well done, especially the sea lions & the parrots that talk (one says: "porque soy bonito"). All of them with interactive parts for kids & adults in a funny, entertaining way. I liked the educational feature, in particular, where you learn about each animal & the most important part, the awareness of their habitat in the wild & how each of us can contribute to a better life for them like for example cleaning up after yourself at the beach so that wildlife won't swallow our trash!!! There is a lot to do there & you feel with the entrance fee you contribute to the well-being of those animals which were mostly rescued & unable to be released.

Nice to see the iguanas and a few other kinds of animals too. Maybe not the neatest kept, but you can see they are taking care and providing decent habitat to keep them safe and happy. Thank you!
