Aquaworld - Crete's first Aquarium - opened in Hersonissos in 1995 - near Bus Stop 20. It features local sea life and reptiles from Crete and from all around the world. Most of the animals are rescued or are unwanted pets which have found a new home at Aquaworld. Our philosophy is simple - bring people and animals closer together and, inevitably, people will begin to respect and care more about the animals! YOU MUST WEAR MASKS TO VISIT!
Easy to find and in walking distance from my hotel the palmera hotel. Friendly and informative staff. Aquarium small but well kept. Reptile area very good and staff very helpful. Was also able to hold a snake. Well worth a visit for 8 euro. I would definitely recommend

Attica Zoological Park offers its visitors a unique journey to the five continents, through the lives of over 2.000 animals, from 350 species.A self-funded creation, extends to a total area of 20 hectares, hosting more than 2000 animals from 350 different species. It is located in Spata area near Athens International Airport
Is the best zoo in Greece and for what is offering to its visitors the orice for the ticket is very good. You are able to see all the animals, take beautiful pictures and in some cases you can walk among them. The show with the dolphins is priceless. The staff shows real interest and love to the animals. You could see their reactions with the dolphins. The park is really huge. It has sitting areas scattered around. It took us 4 hours to see everything and read about each animal. It also has playground for the kids and a cafe where you can eat something. I fully recommend it!!!!!!

Crete’s aquarium, Cretaquarium, opened in December 2005. Belonging to a large European family of aquariums, the Cretaquarium offers its visitors the unique chance to plunge into the great marine world of the Mediterranean. From the big hunter sharks to the tiny seahorses, the sensational jellyfish, the diversity of marine life is set off against underwater Cretan seascapes such as the rock formations at Matala( South Crete)and the sea bed at Vai(North East Crete).
Amazing experience, nice aquarium with sharia and sea turtles a lot to see and do. Also a walk around the museum can be interesting. Didn’t try the food, But next time.

Enjoy the feeling of being close to animals as never before. Ostriches and other animals wait for you to come and show them your love. In the farm you can interact with the animals, like touching, feeding and taking a photo with them! An exciting experience you will totally enjoy! We have also prepared a special area, where you can enter and safely interact with ostriches! Also, a botanic garden with local plant species awaits for you. After finishing your tour of the farm, you can enjoy our handmade dishes such as ostrich omelette or ostrich burger and other delicacies. Before leaving you can also pay a visit to our souvenir shop where you can find carved and painted ostrich eggs, cosmetics from ostrich, bee honey, herbs and other products from our farm!
Recommended for everyone! Very friendly staff, nice animals and great food in restaurant! **********milion star!

Animal Park specialized in upkeep of endangered parrots.
This is a pretty little zoo containing mainly parrots and some pretty monkeys and goats. It’s well-kept and there is a very relaxed and slow vibe - so quite nice to spend an hour there. And there’s a breezy snack bar with hammock chairs. BUT, you’ll also get the opportunity at 1pm to feed the macaques and the lemurs. The lemurs will jump on your shoulders and rummage in your fruit pot for banana and other treats. Your face will be a picture. They are the gentlest and softest creatures, and they currently have little babies that you can also feed. If you listen carefully to the keepers’ instructions and follow them, you’ll have a blissful half hour with these gorgeous creatures. I’ll never forget it.

In 341 BC an intelligent Thessalian horse-taker, Filoneikos sold to Philippe the B, king of Macedonia, his five-year-old stallion Voukefala for the impressive amount of the thirteen talanta (Plutarch, Voi Paralliloi – Alexandros). Filoneikos could not have imagined that his name would be revived in modern Greece and expecially in his area Karditsa through an original business idea. Filoneikos is a dreamy multi-purpose venue for entertainment activities. It covers a beautiful area of 17 acres, three kilometers from the city of Karditsa, on the road to Lake Smokovo. It was created with the motive of love for animals and nature, and it has as the vision of sensitization of both young and old people for the environment, through a unique recreational experience. Filoneikos includes a fantastic wooden café with a fireplace and a pergola with unlimited view of the Agrafa Mountain range, a playground, a trampoline and a football field. We had a fantastic couple of hours here with our little boy (17 months) at this recently opened attraction. He absolutely loved looking at all the animals, especially the tropical birds and the ducks in the pond. There is a great selection of animals although they are more farmyard than zoological with sheep, goats, donkeys, horses, ponies, dogs, geese, ducks, rabbits, and deer. There are some tropical birds and tortoises though and the Odyssey exhibits are great. The Cyclops perhaps too realistic, my little boy was scared of it! There is a lovely little cafe at the top of the hill with lovely views serving a selection of drinks and snacks. We had the cheese pie which was delicious! The highlight of the visit was discovering one of the tortoises had escaped his enclosure ! The staff advised by husband to pick him up and put him back with his friends, apparently he is quite the Houdini and does this all the time as he is so little he can fit through the fence! The paths are a little steep with a push chair but manageable. Well worth a visit! It also looks like they are still expanding the site and building new attractions!
