Sat in the little courtyard outside the tasting room....the sun was shining....perfect location for sipping a little wine. I think our favorite here were the Rose's....simply delicious...loved the one made with Pinot Muenier and Pinot Noir. Also had a basket of chips with guac and salsa....mmmmm good. Our server was AMAZING....can't remember her name but she has three children and was a delight to talk to. We will definitely come back to this winery....have to try all the reds next time. Grapes here come from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. This was probably our favorite wines of the wineries we visited this weekend.

Established in 1984. What began as winemaker Scott Pontin's high school FFA project has culminated into a 25 year legacy of estate winemaking. A new facility including tasting room, case storage, warehouse and offices totaling 5,000 square feet next to the family farm in Prosser marks the grand occasion. The Pontin family is no stranger to farming. Since 1954 Nesto and Delores Pontin have been farming on the same land. They began as turkey farmers until 1967 and sold concord grapes for juice to Yakima Valley Grape Producers, now Welch's. The family also farmed wheat, mint, potatoes and sugar beets and later planted five varieties of apples, which they still farm today. Today Pontin del Roza is a thriving estate winery with 100 acres of 10 varietals including: Riesling, Malbec, Syrah, Dolcetto, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère and Petit Verdot. With production at around 4,500 cases per year, many grapes are still sold to other wine producers, as Pontin desires to maintain a small, family winery.

We had so much fun visiting Barrel Springs Winery!! We were greeted by Benji, cute pup who lead us to the door of the winery. All of the wine we tasted was very good, Annette explained a lot of the process of wine making and the history of the property. We will definitely be back!!????
