Bartho Eksteen Wijnskool is not only great wine, but South Africa's future. With wine courses offered to school children and WSET Levels 1-3 for serious consumers, the playing field is wide open for all ages to learn more about the wonderful world of wine. The main focus is still to produce exclusive and exceptional wines where quality is non-negotiable with as range of nine wines to choose from. MCC sparkling wine, Sauvignon Blancs, Rosé and Rhône style red blends are amongst the wine selection.
Its just at the start of the Hemel & Aarde valley and it doesn't have the glitz and glamour of some of the other wineries up the valley but it delivers in spades. There is an attached restaurant called Maná which is under the management of Bartho's wife Suné. The setting is outside in a rustic setting with wooden tables under a granadilla covered pergola. We wanted a light snack so we were coerced into trying "Suprise suprise", which turned out to be a delightful offering of local cheese, pork pie, scotch egg, bread, fresh fruit and a marvelous chutney. The single platter was enough for two people. Wine tasting was by one of the students. Although young she made it very interesting and delivered an enjoyable wine tasting experience. The Róse is an excellent match for the platter.

The Raka brand was named after Piet Dreyer's black fishing vessel. Piet's first love has always been the sea. For some 36 years he braved the storms and challenges of the coast, ever in search of the best catch. It is with this same passion that the Dreyer family now pursue the art of wine making. With the rich blessing of earth and elements, the help of a dedicated workforce, the enthusiasm of winemaker Josef Dreyer and the advantages of a modern gravity flow cellar, Piet Dreyer produces his award-winning Raka wines.
We picked up this winery through trip advisor and we visited not to be disappointed! The tasting was done professionally and their Red Wine Collection is excellent! We would recommend them highly!

GREAT place with friendly staff! We had a burger for a affordable price that was amazing. We also enjoyed a platter including a Swedish delicacy called Raclette and two glasses of their refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, this is definitely a must have. Overall great experience and definitely one of my favourite farms in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.

Wine tasting in a beautiful renovated barn really sets the scene. Elizabeth was friendly and knowledgeable making the experience memorable. There was a small tasting fee but we certainly didn't pay R400 for the tasting - sorry can’t remember exact price!

Lovely vineyard, went there for lunch and the wine pairing, excellent friendly service, first time experience for myself had a great time. Highly recommend this vineyard. Only negative is dog owners not controlling their dogs, why people insist on taking them to restaurants I don’t know,

Nestled between two gentle hills on the banks of the Botrivier Lagoon, lies the Benguela Cove Wine Estate. Located only one hour from Cape Town , 45 minutes from Cape Town International Airport and just 10km from the historical seaside town of Hermanus, this site enjoys majestic views over the lagoon to the Palmiet mountains, which form the spine of the Kogelberg Biosphere. Perfectly positioned to capture these panoramic views, the 210 Hectares of open land, formed by a large cove on the lagoon, offer just the right amount of seclusion and privacy. Open daily for wine tasting and lunch. Breakfast Sat and Sun, Dinner Thursday - Sunday

Had a great afternoon lunch with family. Beautiful views, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Small menu - always a good sign! - with a variety of options. Portions sizes are generous and the food was excellent! Well worth a visit...there are also two friendly ridge backs and a very healthy pig wondering around called cracking! Loves a good scratch and attention!

We had great wine served with a delicious platter of cheese, salame, pâtés, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and home baked bread. The sommelier was incredible! Lovely experience.

Beautiful venue with outstanding views over the Hemel and Aarde Valley. Lionel was an excellent host - knowledgeable, humorous and attentive. We tasted 4 wines, each one was excellent. If you buy a bottle of wine, the wine tasting fee is waived. Overall, a wonderful experience - will definitely be back.
